A show of Africa's richest heritage, CARNIRIV provides a chance to learn about the true culture of Rivers people, who speak more than 300 languages.
These are the different events that will keep you entertained in this years CARNIRIV.
The programe kicks off with a Colloquium on Friday 13th Dec 2013 by 11am at RSHA complex.
THE CARNIRIV COLLOQUIUM is convergence of literally minds exclusively on invitation to unveil a classified discuss on a topic of pedigree centered on certain importance to humanity.
THE KIDS CARNIVAL is the next on the list, taking place on Sunday 15th Dec 2013 by 2pm at Stadium Road Carnival village (liberation Stadium)
The intent of the kiddies’ version, is to demonstrate the importance of children in the scheme of things as well as develop their interest in tourism right from their formative year.
HE CARNIRIV PRAISE JAM also holds on the 15th of Dec 2013 by 6pm at Carnival village (liberation Stadium)
It is a praise fiesta of colourful and inspiration gospel artistes drawn from the international and continental sphere to launch the carniriv brand in a night of unstoppable gospel rhythms.
PILGRIMAGE '88' takes place on monday 16th of Dec 2013 by 10am at lagos bus stop, Aggrey Road- where it all began
THE OFFICIAL OPENING CEREMONY also holds on the 16th of Dec 2013 by 6pm at Carnival Village (liberation Stadium)
DANCE OF THE FIREFLIES follows shortly after the ceremony at the same venue liberation Stadium by 8pm
A creatively borne event centered around the old long crave of a few village folks sitting round the fire in the cold of the evening perhaps digesting a folktale form an elderly man and enjoying the rhythmic displays of the spectacular fuse of the fireflies. Its a replay of nature in its most refined orthodoxy and centers on the importance of the dance exhibited by this unique creatures, the fireflies.
INTERNATIONAL AQUATIC FIESTA IAF holds on wednesday 18th Dec by 7am at Port Harcourt Tourist Beach
Previously known as boat regatta but now international aquatic fiesta because apart from the regatta itself, the entire ambience of the river will have an aquatic life; so many of the aquatic life like all the sea animals that we have, we are going to have replicas of them on the river and then we are going to have a stage on the river for a concert. It is a purely aquatic fiesta.
Quoting the DG Dr Sam DeDe "The stage is going to be right on the middle of the river, come expecting"
EGELEGE: CHAMPIONS OF THE SAND continues by 12pm at Carnival village the same day
There will be an upgrade of the local wrestling competition, Egelege, to a stand-alone event following its instant success over the years.
Celebrity wrestlers will also be brought to the event.
EKERE : RHYTHM OF THE TRIBES continues at Carnival village by 4pm
This is a display of the rich cultural essence of the primal artistic fervour and glamour of the patrician heritage of Rivers people in the 23 Local Government Areas.
BAMFest takes place by 7pm after Ekere at Carnival Village
Black African Music Festival (BAMFest) is a celebration of the black African heritage, which stretches beyond the continent of Africa.
EKERE : RHYTHM OF THE TRIBES, Part 3 takes place on Thursday 19th Dec 2013 by 4pm at Carnival Village
REGGAE 360 : continues by 7pm at the same venue.

INTERNATIONAL HERITAGE PARADE comes up on Friday Dec 20th by 10am from RUMUOLA ROAD to AGGREY Road
In true carnival style, contingents of the 23 LGAs engage a procession (on a pre-defined route) through the streets of Port Harcourt- showcasing enthralling dances and masquerade displays as they do so.All of these performances are embedded in colourful floats gigged with impressive icons. This year, the Heritage parade goes international with the inclusion of troupes from Malaysia and South Africa as honorary participants.
OLD PORTHARCOURT TOWN GROOVE takes place later that night by 7pm at Aggrey Road
This has been designed to enliven the fond memories of the city.
GARDEN CITY FREE STYLE PARADE comes up on Saturday 21 Dec 2013 by 10am at Silver Bird Cinema at the Carnival Village
The carnival here enters its final day, and the hype and excitement portend to a crescendo. Glamour, style and pageantry all fuse into one fine artistic blend in a contemporary modern cultural procession through the streets of Port Harcourt.
Traditionally, 6 bands participate in this procession; with 5 bands (namely: Jubilee, Liberation, Dynamic, Fusion and Treasure Bands) all wrapped-up in fervent competition.
This year, two more competing bands (namely: Centenary Band and Black Gold Band) have been included to add to the exhilaration which this parade already promises, and raise the stakes for the ultimate prize..
WORLD PEACE CONCERT (Closing Ceremonies) will take place later that evening by 6pm Carnival Village.
